Welcome to a new week :)

1. Has spring "sprung" by you yet?

2. What are you wearing today?

3. Do you make a special menu for Easter (if you celebrate it)?
I thought you've said her allergy wasn't that severe. She eats at a peanut free table at school then? An epipen kit? My cousin's DD was rushed to the hospital for aphyxiation b/c of reaction to a food, She was probably 4 or 5. Heaven forbid a food allergy kill!
She doesn't eat at a peanut-free table b/c she doesn't have a life threatening peanut allergy. Her allergy to certain tree nuts is life threatening. We're lucky that she doesn't react through inhalation--she has to eat the allergen to react. So she could ostensibly sit next to someone eating a salad with tree nuts and not react. But why risk it? Cross contamination (serving spoons, etc) is a big risk, esp. at large family gatherings. Of course we have epi pens--and she doesn't go anywhere without her epi pen and antihistimines. She is trained how to use it on herself, and the entire family (big brother, grandparents, all babysitters) have also been trained how to use it on her. She is a great little advocate for herself and knows not to eat anything at all without asking if it is safe. But accidents happen, and since avoidance is the best prevention--why risk it?

On Wednesdays we wear pink.

Did you really just encourage a woman whose daughter has a deathly nut allergy to check out the thousands of recipes on Pinterest that could kill her daughter? And then laugh?

I suspect you'd feel differently if the nuts could kill your kid, Hazel. The butter won't kill her but it makes her awfully uncomfortable, so I'm kind of a nazi about it. I don't expect the general public to accomodate her. She brings her own snacks to sporting events and school and her own cupcakes to parties. She even brought her own (non dairy) ice cream to the class Christmas party. But I do expect family to not serve food that could kill her if she was inadvertently served some or, God forbid--through carelessness, cross-contaminated the safe stuff. That isn't a risk I'm willing to take w/my daughter's health.

It has tried, but so far has failed.  We have some spring flowers up, but they're hiding under the snow.

2. What are you wearing today?

Black jeans, white v-neck top, black scarf, black, gray and white print sweater.

3. Do you make a special menu for Easter (if you celebrate it)?

We don't celebrate it, per se, but we have sometimes observed it as an excuse to buy Reese's eggs. :)  This year we'll probably take something over to Mom's for dinner but nothing specially chosen for the holiday.
