Were I worked before this place, people brought in a box of candy or something to share at Christmas. We didn't get individually wrapped gifts. I don't think I've ever received as many small token gifts from co-workers like I did this year, my first year at this place.
Yup. Thats how I feel. If I were particularly crafty or baked or something, maybe I could see delivering homemade breads to some friends. But to buy an inexpensive trinket, I'll pass.
My DDs started buying gifts for a very few select friends last year (two each). They use there own money for this and decided to do it on their own. I felt like I didn't really want to start that whole, "Well if I get Susy something, then I should really get Mary something. And Jean gave me something last year......" thing.
On ths Scouting board someone posted something about do you get your troops gifts and do you get leader gifts....Uhhh NOOOO and don't give them any ideas!! I'm perfectly happy getting a hug and a Thank You from my girls.
We do 2 grab bags at work. Only one I participated in one. I got chocolates with alcohol in them and a variety of hot chocolate. We collect money for our boss and get her gifts. I also participated in a grab bag with my friends. I got a bottle of wine.
We got lots of gifts from vendors and brokers and such--mostly sweets, and I re-gifted quite a bit of it. If I took home everything I was given, I'd weigh 400 lbs. So some of it went to DD's daycare, some to DS's teacher, some went to clients, some went to friends/family.
