The Girl tells me it may be a seasonal item, not a regular menu item.

We do something similar at our office, but with a twist.

First, we set a spending limit. Usually $20.
Second, it has to be a REAL gift, not a gag or white elephant gift.
And the twist ... We usually go out for dinner as our party. We each start with our own wrapped gift. Every time the waitress comes to the table, we rotate our gifts to the left. When the server brings the check, we keep whatever gift we have, unless it is our own, in which case we rotate one more time .. to the right.

It's really fun. We always tell the server what's going on, and tell her s/he is part of the fun. So s/he will do things liek bring drinks individually, or check 4 times to make sure we have enough napkins, etc. We'll do things like drop our fork on the floor so we have to get a new one, thus another visit from the server. Sometimes, the servers will walk up to the table and yell "switch!". lol

I've gotten a lot of those type of gifts as a Sunday school teacher, volunteer, coach...that type of thing, never really through work. We do have a gift exchange at work, those are usually pretty interesting though because we are a small group in my specific office group.

We do get gifts from vendors, there is always what seems to be so much food in the office during the holiday!

OH that's a good idea, I like that.....we all go to lunch at the local "club" restaurant and that would be a great idea.

I like the switch idea. When the gs troop was younger we did something similar. Each girl brought a gift. I found a poem that had the words right and left in it a lot. I thin the families name was Wright. So every time you said right or left, the gifts got passed that way. There were sentences like "Mr. Wright left his coat on the right side of Mrs. Wright's purse.". The gifts would get passed to the right, the left, and then to the right two more times. It was kind of fun.

Dh's office used to do a white elephant gift exchange like this every year, which was a lot of fun and a good ice-breaker. The idea was to re-gift something you already had, but if you wanted to, you could buy something small instead. There were a lot of inside jokes, and some people saved up funny stuff all year to use for the exchange (there are a lot of practical jokers in dh's company, including dh). We usually ended up with something usable.
