bad mommy and daddy report tonight..we were channel surfing and dh decides to announce that we're going to watch the abc movie sixth sense. i'm saying no way and the oldest two, ages 6 and almost 8, are all for it because it's *scaaaaaary*. at every commercial i'm saying it's just make believe it's just make believe and even encouraged a channel change. we watched the entire movie and when it was time to go to bed, my oldest asked a genuine question: what do you do if (big emphasis on *if*) things pop out of the television mom? i reminded her that it was only a movie and that would never happen. she was certain i was wrong and kept asking "but what *if*...." i said it wouldn't happen and included other shows that wouldn't pop out either like her favorites spongebob and lizzie mcguire.

i feel so bad that these kids watched this movie. are there limits on programming at your home and would you have handled the scenario the same way with children at this age? tia for any btdt or advice.

m3t who can't wait til the school year starts so we can get back into a routine of 8P bedtime.

Yep, which is why I said it sometimes (did I say often? whatever I said) isn't the person himself who misses out but the organization that wont' utilize him.

But he could have done that as a priest if they'd let him.

Yet another reason to allow married priests.

Oh, I definitely agree.

Which is onen reason I have "drifted" ( to use m3t's term ) from organized religion. At least now I only hve to deal with my own issues instead of also having to deal with the organization's too.

I don't think b/f and sahms should need a support group either. Comraderie? Sure ... but that, imo, isn't support.

It may be just *my* personal definition of a support group. But I liken it to non-professonal therapy. And sahms shouldn't need therapy just because they are sahms. Gays shouldn't need therapy just because they are gay.

Is he allowed to partake in the Eucharist? Is he allowed to drink the blood of Christ and eat the body of Christ?

I didn't say *I* felt unworthy ... but rather the Church indicated I was unworthy.

And I don't see how, in any way, any of that could be construed as selfish.

sorry for the sidenote here but i really wanted to clarify what i mean by homosexuality acceptance in my church....if any of you care, this is taken out of the catechism itself:

part three 2358: the number of men and women who have deep seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. this inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most them a trial. they must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity. eveyr sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. these persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

notice the text wording here....*accepted*, *respect*, *compassion*

Show me it in practice in great numbers and I'll concede.

Show me large numbers of churches whose memberrs aren't whispering in corners about "that gay couple in the third pew" and I'll concede.

Luckily, FIL and his partner found one of those churches. Was rather refreshing for me to
