I tell my seven year old that I am talking to friends. I tell my two year old to please wait to dirty his diaper until I finish. It is all about me.

I have told my 4 year old that I'm talking to my mommy friends.

Funny you should ask. I was on here the other evening and DS2 said, "Are you on that site that people think you should quit your job???" LOL! No, I've never described it as such to him, but we have had discussions about my WOH and what some people think of moms who WOH or SAH, and DS1 and DS2 look at me funny, like "What is the big deal that you WOH, Mom?"

I would do the same thing. sometimes white lies are very helpful in keeping our children safe.

I tell them what I'm doing. Just like when I have a glass of wine, I don't tell them I'm drinking grape juice. Some things are acceptable for adults that aren't acceptable for children. My 12 yo isn't allowed to go on message boards. She understands that I am allowed to do some things that she isn't. I think it's a bad idea to lie to my children, they should be able to count on me for the truth.~Lisa

Funny you should use the analogy of a glass of wine.

Why tell even a white lie?

I believe the truth is best.

What's the difference in the answer you give about the wine and the internet? They are both adult axctivities. Funny but my 12 yo seems to understand this perfectly and accept it.~Lisa

If our children can't trust us to be honest with them, then who can they trust? My kids know they can count of the truth from me.~Lisa
