Is it the book? I can see your point about many talk shows. The book imo is advocating for the boy and other children, i think this is for all children who feel like "tyson" and parentsand families who are raising them.

5year old children cannot truly advocate for themselves so parents promote the cause b/c it is their child.

I don't think THE PARENTit's a 5-yr-old's job to advocate for other people. I'd rather let him write his own book when he's an adult, if he wants to. Or let Mom write the book *just for him* for now, and ask him when he's old enough to understand whether he wants to use the book to support other kids and their families.

Oops--I hit the send button too quickly. I haven't figured out how to edit a post yet on the new board. Anyway, what I was trying to say in the first line is that it feels like the parents have put advocating for the cause ahead of their own child, and that feels wrong to me. I'm sure they mean well, but I think they should just let him be instead of turning him into a "cause."

I think they're putting the cause ahead of their boy by writing a book about him and taking him on all these talk shows. I don't know if they're caught up in the fame thing or not. My guess is they mean well but just haven't really thought through whether it's right to publicly label him at such a young age. The mom said she had a hard time accepting it at first, so maybe this is her way of trying to make up for that--but I think she's gone overboard.

Understood and i do see your point, if it is just a phase, then the boy probably will not be happy about this.

This past Sunday at church, I picked up ODS from his classroom and they had all made little crowns out of construction paper.

I tried pressing the options button, but I didn't see any options. This new board just doesn't seem that user-friendly to me. I think you're right that the national press will forget about him (although he was in People Magazine, and I can already see the ten-year update--"Where is the Princess Boy now?") I'd be more worried about people who live in his area and actually know him, especially other kids.
