The past tense of this verb is "paid" not payed.

That is all.

<"we architect our software to be easily modified to suit individual needs."

Yeah. Architect: The Verb.>

Why why why WHY??? There are so many perfectly good verbs that can be used in that sentence instead of bastardising an innocent vowel.

Yeah. Our company's motto was "Empowering your Information" (seriously horrible motto, btw). And shortly after the Architect Massacre, we had an in-house contest to design a company t-shirt. My entry (which did NOT win, btw), said: "Architect is not a verb." "Company Name: Emverbing your Nouns"

(The proof room really liked it tho ;)

Only one quibble, shouldn't that be "enverbing"? I realize it had to echo the awesome @@ company motto, just saying. I would have voted for your T.

Yes, it should, but as you say, I was reflecting the motto. Yeah, it's totally a mystery how I didn't win. ;)

I just heard "reach out" in a meeting this morning for the first time. Definitely annoying.

My pet peeve is mixing up less and fewer. I have less to do than you. I do not have less chores to do. I have fewer chores.

(Raises hand, shouts "Ooh ooh!") I've got another one:

It's the yoke of oppression, not the yolk of oppression.

But I imagine that yolk will make your oppressed hair really shiny!

LOL, that is one I have never seen before. Like "balling your eyes out," it makes me wonder what people think it means.

Sorry to just jump in, but I saw this thread and had to add a couple.

-When people write "sense" when they mean "since". Example: I have know her sense first grade.
-They're, their, and there.
