Ds (3yo) has been in preschool for a little while now. On Wednesday, he had his first "accident" at preschool. (He wet his underwear) Well, for some reason, he refused to let the teacher change his clothes. He threw a fit but she eventually got him changed. When I picked him up, he informed me that "mommy" is the only one allowed to change his pants. Now.. I would understand this if noone else had ever changed his pants, but others do it all the time! Now, daddy isn't even allowed to, only mommy. I discussed it with him and we came to the compromise that the teacher can help him get the clothes ready but he changes the pants by himself. (If it ever happens again) But is a phase like this normal? Has anyone else had this happen, and what did you do?

The incident may have shaken his confidence a little. My niece (just turned 4yo) has always been a mommy's girl - I want mommy to pour my drink - I want mommy to cut my food -I want mommy to help me in the bathroom....Well, recently she's begun to become much more independant - until she gets scared, hurt or tired - then no body but mommy better come running because you just won't do! Certainly you haven't forgotten your place in the center of this little boy's universe! I bet he'll bounce back in no time.

It could also be that he's starting to develop some 'modesty' and wants to keep some things private. I think you came up with the best solution and I wouldn't worry a bit about it.
