were your (children)'s names picked out before they were born or were names decided upon when they were born?

how often is working status brought up in social settings/with friends, etc. ?

if there is one thing you could recapture about the past (before kids or/and husband, after kids, whatever) what would it be and why?

what are you looking forward to?

name one nice thing you're going to do today.

Our kids' names were picked out before they were born. Ironically enough both times we setled on a boy name fairly easily but were undecided on a girl name, and both times boys showed up.

I dunno about working status...all my friends know what I do for a living, so if I haven't seen someone for awhile there might be a "how's the semester going" kind of thing, but it's not something that comes up all the time. Biggest frustration right now is that I am on the parent board for my kid's school for like the fifth year in a row, and the new president is a SAHM who thinks holding our monthly meetings an hour before pickup time is more convenient than the evening meetings we have always had until now. She just doesn't get that that won't work for working parents.

Looking forward to a conference later this month.

Today is very filled with work-related stuff. I am going to be on campus from 8 am until 8 pm. I like teaching and everything, but twelve hour days do me in....nice thing? I do get to listen to smart people talk. I might actually learn something today.

I don't know that there is anything I would like to go back to in terms of pre-spouse/pre-child days unless I could resurrect my parents.

two of the names were picked out long before they were born, the other name was a toss up b/w two names we had in mind, DH made the final call and his call was a great one.

Before they were born.

Occasionally.

pre-kids, but post-husband-- the spontaneity to decide to go to a movie at the last minute.

what are you looking forward to?

DS's birthday at the beginning of November-- I think he's going to love his present.

name one nice thing you're going to do today.

I don't know yet.

about the pta president who is a stay at home mom, there's the flip side of that too i suppose - attempting evening meetings and figuring out your attendance doesn't really change..there were a couple years when i served on the board

were your (children)'s names picked out before they were born or were names decided upon when they were born? -- I'm such a planner.

Before

For the most part, it's only during introductions or during chit chat about the economy.

I would have completed my degree before having kids.

Our PTA decided to have some PTA meetings at night (7-9) and some during the day (9:30am-10:00am).

I had a name picked for dd, but dh wasn't crazy about it. We agreed that if the birth coincided with the saint of the same name, I would get my way. Dd arrived a day late, and we had quite some trouble coming up with a name. Dh had off the wall ideas like Heraclea (because the kid was built like Hercules @@) and I liked names that either didn't work in one of our languages or that dh detested for some reason or another. So dd did not become either Heraclea, Eleonora or Eugenia.

Rarely, although people do try to figure out what we do for a living quite often.

The past is the past.

Being done with a rather tedious and tiring project that will last into the new year.

Already did it, went for a walk to buy beeswax candles and had lunch with dh onthe way back.

We are not talking about the entire parent association meeting here, we are talking about the Parent Board, which is twelve people whose kids range in age from Pre-K to Senior in high school.
