in keeping with the tone of what GREATFULMOM shared, neighor kid who comes over to play with my 7 YO has assaulted me once again.

Was not supposed to mean meant as a literal week but as an example of you setting the time (hence the etc).

It's your house. You set the limits.

I agree that limiting who a child can and cannot play with is rarely a good idea. But I think that giving up control of what goes on in ones own house is also not a good idea and the only real control one has over a child that is not theirs is in limiting their time in the home. "you follow the rules, you play here, you don't follow the rules, you don't".

You can be "nice" and you can have control over your house. Sometimes you can't do both at the same time.

It sounds like the kid doesn't know how the light works. Have you ever tried teaching him how to use it correctly? Or is he just going up there and breaking it on purpose?

LOL, i doubt it, that was taught the first time..it's the word, "gentle" the boy doesn't understand.
