In "my" sub-culture you don't get invited to just the "ceremony" you get invited to both the "ceremony" and the "reception". You will not get invited to one and not the other.

So earlier, when you spoke of attending a ceremony just to see the people get married, but you were not invited to the reception, had you not been invited to attend the ceremony?

Yes, I have read many of her posts over the years. I always had assumed that she DID feel similarly (that the marriage is more important than the ceremony). That's why I was so surprised that she posted that she thought it was't. Read the post that I'm responding to.

They can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that when posters referred to the marriage being more important than the wedding, they were not speaking of ceremony vs. reception.

I can't believe that you had to clarify that.

I truly don't remember such a question. If you'll link me to the post where it was asked, I'll answer.

Your information about common law marriage in Oklahoma is wrong, inasmuch as it is incomplete and misleading.

Oklahoma recognizes common law marriages that occurred before 11/1/98. Common law marrriages after that date are currently in a legal limbo and final determination of their validity has not been made.
