I don't know of anyone that has consciously thought the wedding was more important than the marriage. However, I have known of people who put way more thought, effort, energy and time into the wedding than they did into the relationship.

I don't disagree with you on this at all. I am sure there are people out there who are more interested in the "wedding" and are disappointed after it is over and realize that marriage is work.

frankly,i don't get the connection between a marriage that suffered and too much emphasis on a wedding.


most weddings IME were pretty big ones.

IMO, the only time that there is a connection is when the couple emphasizes the wedding *in lieu of* emphasizing the marriage. In other words, when a couple gets married because they want to GET married, not because they want to BE married. KWIM?
