At the risk of stereotyping, I can only see that happening with late teens, maybe early twenty-year olds.

I hope there are fewer stories of older folk who want that wedding so badly, they throw caution to the wind, just to say they had a wedding.

ITA with you. I know that there are women out there that plan the wedding more than they plan the marriage but I don't think that is a larger percentage who are able to have their cake and eat it (literally at the reception-lol!!).

Well IME, I got married at 21 and we both wanted to GET married and BE married. We didn't do it to "get out of the house" or to "have a wedding". We did it because we loved each other and that was the next step in our relationship.

>> do all the people invited to the reception ALWAYS come to the church? <<

IME, yes, everyone who is invited to the ceremony is also invited to the reception, and yes, generally everyone comes to both.

So you have never heard of someone coming to the ceremony that was not invited to the reception? Or someone invited to both but could not come to the ceremony?

>> excuse me for tapping in late here but yea,why wouldn't a marriage start with the ceremony before others <<

Because some people prefer that moment in their lives to be intimate and private.

>> before God? <<

Because some people are not religious.

I was thinking the same thing.
