I had a drunkle. At my sister's wedding he took it upon himself to help tend bar. When he got complaints about making drinks too strong he spit in them to water them down. He was promptly put in a taxi and sent home. That was the last time that my dad ever invited him to anything (prior to that he came to dinner about once a month).

I have never in my life heard of the idea that any random person could just drop in at any old wedding.

I've never heard of it, and I would go as far as to say that it would be considered rude in this part of the country.

The invitations are for the "reception" as that is what they are paying for (per head), not the ceremony. Not everyone can be invited to the "reception" as most people have limited amount of money and I find nothing wrong with someone wanting to see someone get married that they are not invited to the "reception".

Then I am glad I live where I live, lol!! as I have been to many "ceremonies" and had people who wanted to see me get married but was not invited to the "reception".

"Public"? You consider friends, friends of friends, friends of family and co-workers, "public"?

If they were someone I felt close enough to invite, they would have been invited.
