Oh, I am sorry too. The weddings I go to, the people first think of the people they would like to have at their ceremony and reception, then they think of their budget, and they plan an event within their budget that would include everyone they would like to invite. If the budget won't allow for a big sit down dinner for all 300 people they would like to invite, they have a simpler reception and still manage to allow all their friends and family to celebrate with them.

Just think how much trouble Sleeping Beauty's parents could have saved if they had decided to invite all the fairy godmothers, and not just twelve because that's how many golden plates were on hand. They could have used regular china, invited all the godmothers, and saved the Prince the trouble of rescuing the beautiful maiden.....

Oh, I think that you and Egd do have overlapping subcultures -- religious and ethnic among others.

I don't see you or CNut saying, Wow it's neat & interesting that other parts of the country have a different tradition in this situation.

We don't put "private function" on the rooms of our church when we are having private functions because well....people tend to know whether they are invited or not to family functions. That invitation comes in handy there.

Seriously, if everyone who wants to come is invited to a wedding, why bother with printed or engraved invitations in the first place? Seems like a big old waste of money to me!

Well since I have never attended one that was closed, I am just assuming that there would be someone at the door not allowing anyone in, like a celebrity wedding (only one IMO that would have a wedding "closed").

Oh, in a post that has long since been edited, I am sure. But don't worry, there's a screen shot. I'd post it here, but that would be a violation of privacy.....if you want to e-mail me for it, go right ahead.

You should really add "IME" to this post.

Do you think less of the Catholic churches that don't allow people in to celebrity weddings? How famous do you have to be before you have the privilege of eliminating the gawkers?
