I would, if I were religious, feel uncomfortable with my church if they didn't open their doors to anyone ... anyone wanting to worship or partake in religious/spiritual events/activities.

My personal theory is that you invite whomever you want .. no matter how many people it is. If that makes it out of my budget? Then I change my scope. I'd rather have a $5 a plate wedding with everyone that I love invited than have a $100 a plate wedding and be limited to a certain number of guests.

Apples to oranges. Hotels get foot traffic. LOTS of foot traffic. Churches? not so much.

We just did the unthinkable last Wednesday -- threw somebody out of a church activity. We have a Wednesday night potluck and then choir practices, youth activities, and adult classes. We are a downtown church, and lately, we have had a lot of homeless guests coming in. No problem, except this guy was loud, profane, and obviously drunk. We filled a plate for him and sent him outside. First time, but he made some threatening gestures toward some of the older ladies present, and we decided that he needed to be outside.

We are also kinda picky about who gets in the church nursery and the children's classes. In fact, you have to have passed a background check and go through Safe Sanctuary Training before you are allowed access to the children. Funny that.

So you consider a person you KNOW and are friends with or know very well a "wedding crasher"?

I would consider anyone I hadn't invited to my wedding ceremony who showed up a "wedding crasher." You wouldn't consider uninvited guests at your wedding ceremony to be crashers. That is the difference we have all been talking about for several hundred posts.
