Again, no it is not a Catholic thing, as much as you want to believe that :)

Yep and it is easier to accuse other people of not thinking "outside of the box" and that things are "different" to what they are used to ;)

If they came to my wedding uninvited? Yep.

No, we've already determined that in some areas of the south, the whole congregation is considered invited to a wedding of a member of the church, whether or not a formal invitation is extended. Nobody has said that it is just Catholic. I just think that what you are describing is more common in east coast Irish and Italian Catholic communities than elsewhere.

Yes if I did not invite them, they would be crashing.

And I am sure other things also, just like I would in any other part of the country :)

It was that way when I belonged to a neighborhood Catholic parish many years ago. The bands would be announced and the wedding ceremony details would be shared in the weekly bulletin. The little old ladies in the parish would often attend because they knew the children from the neighborhood and wanted to see the get married. With many churches closing and parishes consolidating, I doubt that the practice continues.

lolol!!
I wouldn't be walking into a wedding of someone I did not know at all, even though people do and it is not forbidden. If it was a mass and I was there before, I could see that. The weddings I have gone to, I had planned to go to the ceremony and some had gone through the plans with the bride many months before.
