I can think of a LOT of kids who don't want to participate in weddings. People think it's cute to have children in weddings, but many children don't think it's so cute.

>>Several kids went green, and until I was about 26 or so, I was adamant that I would never have children, based solely on the experience of watching that film<<

Oh. now there is a thought. Yeah, my son had to watch that film in ninth grade. All teenage girls swore giving birth. Not such a bad thing.

Ohhhh, but PhD robes are soooo regal looking. I love them. Not enough to get a PhD, but I love looking at them.

Do you really think you can judge a stranger's nobility based on 2-3 quoted sentences on a message board/

You do not understand that veterans feel very patriotic and many times join the military because of a love for this country? I literally cannot understand that. It even sounds cruel.

There is nothing casual about feeling a pride in serving one's country and feeling a pride about defending other's rights who are citizens of this country. Many veteran's I have had the pleasure of speaking with are proud to defend the rights of American citizens even when they are disagreeing with the American govt and their policies.

It's sad that you find this a casual unimportant value.

Well, when it's your life, you tend to be a bit more casual about it. My Dad was active duty military the whole time I was growing up. We lived on base a lot and we were surrounded by military personnel. So was my husband. His father was a West Point Grad; I think between us we have six West Point grads in the family. Noble and dignified are great, but they are mostly for outsiders. Inside, there is a lot of just getting the job done. And my Dad would agree with the serviceman's finest accolade: "Effing A, Bubba."
