I have no clue, honestly. I know my SIL, who is Jewish married to an atheist from a Protestant background, was incensed for awhile, as were a number of families we knew. Then, like most things, it went to the back burner and I never heard about it again. My SIL is still active in her congregation, so I guess she got over it.

You seem to assume that forlinis and myself ONLY think "catering hall" weddings are the way to go.
I have been to weddings across the gamut and from very inexpensive to very expensive.
I don't care HOW someone has their wedding as long as it makes THEM happy. Not including people who really want to share the day with them or at least do something for them after is my real "beef".

You only make your own fun in life. That usually tells you alot about a person if they can't have fun in any situation they are put in.

"I know that you're not going to understand that not everyone has the same Cinderellafied view of ceremony that you seem to have. Regardless of whether you understand it, though, it happens."

Again, this is an assumption you are making as my inlaws were divorced when we got married, could not stand being in the same room together but both came to the wedding. Our families were as different as different could be and everyone meshed well.
It is not TOO hard to act like a mature adult for one day.

Life is too short, IMO and IME, to miss important things in not only my own life but others :)
