My wedding was pretty great.
But the "funnest" wedding I went to was a friend's in which I was not involved in the ceremony at all. I did have quite a "fun" time flirting with an ex-flame, who was her cousin, that I had not seen in years. LOL

But there are categories of military people. You said your father went to West Point. The choice to purse that path, I'd guess, made him approach his military experience very differently than, say, a kid with no inclination or interest in the military who was drafted during Vietnam. Or some of the guys I've heard about who enlisted after 9/11 who "wanted to go kill some terrorists".
