No honey, you're still confused. Or at least your post indicates you are.

I have heard that that is very common in the South.

I have never heard or seen that practiced where I am from.

There is no one who is invited to one who is not invited to the other, but if you do not have an invitation at all, you are welcome to just show up at the ceremony? Is that right?" Yep, that is correct.

So, like I asked, if I were travelling on Long Island, and just popped into some random wedding to witness the ceremony, that would be OK?

I have no clue as I never mentioned LI, now did I?

Yup. Not invited to any part of the day, wedding or reception.

Really, by golly :0

One of my co-workers got married on a boat and I did see pictures and am aware of the size of the boats and what it entailed. As far as I know, you rent the entire boat, not just ONE room.

Not confused it all.
It's ok. You both have different definitions or are you going to fight WHO is right? ;)

I see...one of your co-workers rented a boat, and that is the size of any boat that anyone might use for a wedding, and they ALL have multiple rooms.

Not

No, Talbots and I do *not* have different definitions. If you believe that we do, you are simply mistaken. But you are welcome to be wrong, all by yourself. After all, my husband fought in Vietnam to defend your right to be wrong.

I'm sure they do; I've never been to a wedding on a boat.

However, if it's a small boat and the sound system THAT powerful, a guest who was unhappy with the noise level would probably not be able to find a place to escape. Unless, like bord suggested, s/he opts to swim to shore. Which would mean leaving the party, of course.
