Oldest DS is in Kindy this year so the whole school experience is new to our family (our kids don't do pre-school).

My kids' school goes from age four until seniors in high school.

But they are going by where they SHOULD be at that point.

Last year my son was reading in the H level when at that point he "should" have been at the D level at that time of the year.

Nope. Ds has always been at the top of his class, in the highest groups for all subjects. Starting in 7th grade, they offer AP classes.
