With another snow storm hitting much of the country, how about some snow day fluff?

1.  Have you or your kids had many snow days this year?

2.  What do you like to do on snow days?

3.  What did you like to do on snow days when you were a kid?

4.  How do you receive the news that school/work has been cancelled?

5.  And just for warm thoughts, favorite beach or warm spot to visit?

1.  Well, grandkid in this case, and he's had quite a few snow days, but I have no idea how many.  They're off today because we're still in the middle of an ice storm (since 10p last night).

2. When I had them as a kid, I liked to sleep in until Mom dragged us out of bed to go shovel :)  Nowadays, I like to go to work because as essential (and hourly wage) personnel, we get paid double to work when the government is closed :)

3.  Go sledding.  I've always loved sledding.

4. woohoo!!!

5.  it's a toss up between Roatan (Mahogany Bay) and  Barbados (Walkers Beach).

1. I think the kids had a total of 10 days of school January, due to the number of snow days. Some days the closings were due to temperature as it dipped -20, -35 with wind chills on some of those days.

2. When the kids were younger, I would play a favorite movie and we'd cuddle up under blankets on the couch sipping hot cocoa. When they were middle-school aged, we went sledding. Now that they're teens, they just want to sleep so there's no real net effect change to my day.

3. Sled. Climb snow moutains made by plow trucks.

4. Text.

5. I'm a sucker for the Western coast of Michigan.

1.  The University is closed two days in a row, which is highly unusual.  The public schools are on their fifth or sixth day, I can't remember.   Five days is average for the year and we've got around six weeks of possible snow days, so it looks to be a bad year.  2.  I like to bake, but I am trying to lose some weight, so I haven't done that this year.   3.  When I was a kid?  Get outside and play, then come back inside and read.  4.  Despairingly  5.  Anywhere

1.  Have you or your kids had many snow days this year?

This is the 3rd one that they closed the school. Other days were 2 hour delay or early dismissal.

2.  What do you like to do on snow days?

Not be out in the snow lol. Usually just things in the house. Throw in some laundry, cook dinner, make some type of dessert, check my work emails, watch TV, referring the fights between the kids. lol.

3.  What did you like to do on snow days when you were a kid?

Went out in the snow and played.

4.  How do you receive the news that school/work has been cancelled?

Usually facebook first, then get a robo call from the district, it is on the school website, news station websites and on TV.

5.  And just for warm thoughts, favorite beach or warm spot to visit?

1.  We have had about twice as many as normal, I think around 4 days so far this year and a couple of late starts as well.  I've also had a couple myself.

2.  We are slugs usually, outside of shoveling.  Lots of movies, a warm fire, cooking/baking and some games tossed in.

3.  We usually went sledding.

4.  Text and then a phone call, I remember watching the schools scroll across the tv screen or waiting to hear the name on the radio when I was kid.

5.  My favorite spots is the Carolina's, great beach houses to rent and great beaches in general.

Oh, I didn't even think of Lake Michigan--I haven't been there in YEARS, but I've always loved the Dunes.

1.  Have you or your kids had many snow days this year?

He has worked from home a couple times when the roads were bad.

2.  What do you like to do on snow days?

If I'm able to be at home (usually I'm not) then I just like to hang around the house and read or watch TV.  I don't enjoy wet and cold.

3.  What did you like to do on snow days when you were a kid?

Pretty much the same as now.

4.  How do you receive the news that school/work has been cancelled?

The last few years that Joel was in school, we got a phone call, text messages and saw it on TV.  Before that it was just TV.  Except once when they didn't really publicize it and we sat at the bus stop for 20 minutes and then called the transportation office.

5.  And just for warm thoughts, favorite beach or warm spot to visit?

Oh lordy, I haven't been to a beach in forever...too difficult for us to navigate.  I'm more of a desert person.  Southern Arizona is good.  We're hopefully going to be heading out there sometime soon.

1,  We have had two late start days due to sleet/ice.   I ended up taking one off completely. We may get another one tomorrow.

2,  Read,, catch up on my DVR.

3.  Play in the snow.

4.  School by watching the news.  Work pretty much follows the schools/news reports.  If the reports are saying to stay off the roads then we stay home.

5.  Have not really vacationed much at beaches.   Only once have we gone to a beach for vacation and that was Galveston in 2012.

1.  Have you or your kids had many snow days this year? None for me.  The kids have had 13 snow days, and 4 two hour delays.  Mostly in January.  It seems we have years like this about every 3-4 years.  Last year there was only one snow day I think.

2.  What do you like to do on snow days?  My work basically never closes, but if I'm staying home with the kids, I like to read, knit, watch movies, and take the kids sledding.  I LOVE sledding, except the walking up the hill part.

3.  What did you like to do on snow days when you were a kid? Sledding and playing in the snow.  Snuggling in bed and reading.  Drinking hot chocolate.  Sitting in front of a fire.

4.  How do you receive the news that school/work has been cancelled?  For school, I get a phone call and e-mails.  Hate the phone call.  For work, I'd get an e-mail and probably a phone call from my boss.

5.  And just for warm thoughts, favorite beach or warm spot to visit?  At this point, any warm, sunny place would do.  I really like the Outer Banks though.
