Here is a SAHM who takes careful budgeting to new heights. It must, of course, be noted that since her DH is military, the family is probably covered in terms of health insurance.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/how-a-family-of-four-manages-to-live-well-on-just--14-000-per-year-174803218.html

"Wagasky, 28, lives with her her husband, Jason, 31, and their two young children in a three-bedroom family home in Las Vegas, Nevada. While Jason, a member of the U.S. Army, completes his undergraduate studies, the family's only source of income is the $14,000 annual cost of living allowance he receives under the G.I. Bill. Despite all odds, the family has barely any credit card debt, no car payment, and no mortgage to speak of."

[...]

"By the time Wagasky's husband came home from Iraq, they had managed to scrape together the $30,000 they needed for a downpayment on a home.

"But we decided the best option would be not to have a mortgage payment at all," she said. "We found a fixer-upper that didn't have a kitchen ... and we paid cash." "

The Girl's boyfriend not only doesn't have cable, but they don't even have a tv.  They do, however, have a screen and projector of some sort, so they do watch movies.

Yes Peachy, people who enjoy TV DO choose NOT to cut it (or at least not to the bare minimum) BUT some cut others things out (maybe tithing or having multiple children) to have something they enjoy. The $25/week that I spend is FULLY worth it to my family.

By all means, cut tithing so you can afford your cable. REALLY? Did you really just type that? Now THAT'S a set of priorities to brag about right there... Wow. I'm gobsmacked. That's a new low, even for you, Spice Girl.

If you are going to post things like "more indicators" and "you should probably stop", please attach the reasons you have and what post they go to. Thanks.

If you are going to address a post to a specific person or reply to a specific post, you should probably use the quote feature.

I am not sure why you assume everything, or anything for that matter, is related to church.  Are you religious?

The parts of your posts that indicate a lack of understanding are the ones where you can't seem to understand the desperation that one feels.  For example that you can't acknowledge how EASY it would be to cut tv, if you that meant you could feed your kids.

For one thing, Rose, hers is a better understanding because she seems to grasp the difference between needs and wants. Your posts to not indicate that you share in that understanding.

Yes, Littlemiss I am aware of that and again, I personally know people in the military right now who is getting housing and know how it works. I am aware of all of these things: http://www.goarmy.com/benefits/money/allowances-covering-the-cost-of-living.html

Yes Rosey you may be aware, but from what you way, you don't understand it.  That's ok.

You get extra super sparkly princess points for using the word "corpus" here...

I heart you for that one

I'm, personally, still trying to grasp the thought process in which one brags that cable tv outranks God. Since the nature of the tithe is to give back to God what was His to begin with, saying "I'm going to cut back on my tithing so I can afford this here cable tv..." just doesn't align with the whole scriptural idea of being in the world but not of it. Someone seems to have gotten that (like so many other things in life) completely backwards.

Wow. Just. Wow.

Yes, Regina...there are many people who do not tithe or even go to church. You do realize that right? (all different type of people in this world lol).
