Not imo.  I only consider flip flops to be ones that 1) have a strap between the toes, 2) have no heel strap, and 3) make that flip flop sound when you walk.   They are also often, but not always, fairly flat.   However, if pressed, I could delete #1 if 2 and 3 still stand.    All flip flops are sandals, but not all sandals are flip flops.   And by perusing the site, it appears that my definition is pretty consisten with Zappos' definition.

I don't recall anyone saying one couldn't wear a maxi skirt with flip flops. What was said was that one really couldn't wear a particular cashmere maxi skirt with flip flops. I love how you (and your two cohorts) always want to debate things that haven't been said.
