1.  What plants are sprouting or blooming in your yard?

2. Forsythia: love it? Hate it?

3. When will you be planting this summer's herbs and kitchen garden veggies?

4. How many days last week were you able to leave the windows open?  Or at least turn off the heat for the day?

1.  The daffodils are about 3 inches out of the ground.  The rose has buds for new growth set and ready to go.  My day lilies have begin to peak out of the winter mulch.  The lilac buds (both for leaves and blooms) are thick but tight, so a month or so to go with them still.  Also the maples are showing signs of opening up the helicopter pods in the next couple weeks.

2. Hate it.  I've gotten rid of one of the forsythia plants.  There's another I plan to uproot this summer and then the one entangled with my tree in the back yard will need to be hacked to ground level once the flowers die off.

3. Can't see being able to plant anything (herbs or veggies) before May 1.

4. Had the windows open 3 days last week and the heat off all but one.

Actually spring will not be her officially until DD1 birthday on Thursday,

1, A lot of our stuff does not actually die off in the winter.  Our holly bushes have bloomed all winter, in fact one of our best years yet.  Our lilies are coming up, rose bushes are turning green.

2, Do not know what that is,

3. DH does that.  As soon as he can get the ground ready.  It has been too wet for the last couple of weeks to get it tilled.  Worked on it yesterday and his tiller died..  Today will probably be a trip to Lowes.

4. We do not keep our windows open because of allergies.  It was a bit cold I think last Tuesday and this last weekend but the other day temp wise we could have opened our windows.  We do not usually actuallly turn off the heat until it get hot enough to tuen on the air conditioner because it only runs when cold anyway.

    1.  What plants are sprouting or blooming in your yard? -- honestly I haven't paid any attention.

    2. Forsythia: love it? Hate it?  -- have no opinion

    3. When will you be planting this summer's herbs and kitchen garden veggies? -- we had to tear up part of the garden when we put the storm shelter in, and we have a gigantic pile of dirt in the yard. So all that has to be fixed/taken care of before we can even think of garden plans for his year.

    4. How many days last week were you able to leave the windows open?  Or at least turn off the heat for the day? --  I dunno. the heat is on a programmable thermostat so we don't really turn it off. We did open the windows some.

    No preference

    1.  What plants are sprouting or blooming in your yard?

    Crocuses!

    2. Forsythia: love it? Hate it?

Love it, but I haven't had to deal with it spreading all over my yard yet.

    3. When will you be planting this summer's herbs and kitchen garden veggies?

    Probably not until May.

    4. How many days last week were you able to leave the windows open?  Or at least turn off the heat for the day?

It wasn't quite warm enough to open the windows.  We leave the furnace on, but it didn't kick on most days last week.  I was not amused to have 2 inches of snow this morning.

    1.  What plants are sprouting or blooming in your yard? Absolutely nothing (not even the crocuses)

    2. Forsythia: love it? Hate it? I'm indifferent.

    3. When will you be planting this summer's herbs and kitchen garden veggies? End of May

    4. How many days last week were you able to leave the windows open?  Or at least turn off the heat for the day? One. It's in the teens today.

    1. Um, I can sort of see the ground now and I don't need spikes to go running.

    2. Love it! Can't wait to actually see it.

    3. I'll start my seedlings in the house, then plant them by late May, then kill them with neglect and general incompetence by mid-August. But my basil will live. That can survive even my ineptitude.

    4. I opened a window to let out the burnt microwave popcorn smell, but had to close it quickly due to the arctic blast and high heating bills.

    1.  What plants are sprouting or blooming in your yard?

    Haven't noticed.

    2. Forsythia: love it? Hate it?

It's OK.  Fun factoid:  When my mother was a little girl, there was a woman in her neighborhood who called forsythia "syphilis bushes".

    3. When will you be planting this summer's herbs and kitchen garden veggies?

Probably won't do that this year.

    4. How many days last week were you able to leave the windows open?  Or at least turn off the heat for the day?

Heat was off for three days, but that includes one day when I forgot to turn it back on.
