We've gone to church, watching Meet The Press, took ground beef out of my freezer for meatballs, jotting notes down for the week then planning for the week ahead, clip coupons, and planning to watch the Cleveland Browns/Bengals game later, Ultimate rivals!  Lol!

How is your Sunday going?

Was gone to Indiana for a conference Thurs-about midnight and came home and went to bed. Had to get DS#1 to work this morning by 5:30, then decided to come home and nap for awhile. Didn't set alarm, expecting to sleep maybe an hour. Woke up at 9:30; went to church. Came home and ate some leftover chicken Marsala for lunch and threw on some laundry. Have to do some housecleaning and grocery shopping before DH gets in this evening about 7:30 pm. Thinking chile and jalapeño corn bread for supper.

Haha, way to try to resurrect a thousand-year-old debate. :-)

And I'm sorry, but anything I spend three hours cooking is a meal, whether it's supposed to be or not. ;). And I even put meat in it this time, since GAB, who belives that a meal requires animal flesh, will be eating with us.

I am liking this "GAB" lol. I think I was part of that "thousand-year-old" debate and wouldn't consider JUST rice and beans a meal.

red Beans and Rice is what my Dad and his people would have for supper on Monday night if they had had ham or ham steaks for Sunday Dinner. It is not just "beans and rice" but it is a one-dish meal that has beans and rice, and depending in the way you cook it, onions, celery, bell peppers, and bits of pork because the beans would be cooked with the hambone and any leftover meat from the day before. Sometimes they would add in some stewed chicken. My son brought home a recipe from Belize that uses coconut milk to cook the rice. It is delicious.

Oh, I can see that with pork or ham in it. Not just rice and beans though. Seems like that is just sides to me and I have had it many times so I know exactly what it is.

Yea, When I think of red beans and rice I think of a cajun/southwestern dish with some kind of sausage tossed in.

Yeah, they add Andouille sausage down Louisiana way. We usually make it with pork shanks.
