In cases of "technicalities" they get retrials, they don't get released. They get released if they are proven not guilty. As it should be. Unless you think that people should be in jail/executed regardless of whether they are convicted or not?

The reason I had to use the conditional statements was because you somehow decided we were no longer speaking only of death penalty cases, which is what the thread was speaking of at that point.
So yes, you are right, my original post did not have the conditional statements. But they only had to be added because you changed the parameters of the discussion.

Actually after some brief research, this person didn't get out of prison, she was immediately re-arrested before she left prison.
