Ed Parkinson pursued Julie Rea Harper for more than six years. A lawyer from the Office of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor, Parkinson had secured the original indictment in 2000 by presenting the case to a grand jury. In 2004, the Fifth District appeals court ruled that he had usurped his authority and dismissed Harper’s indictment and conviction — but by then the statute outlining SAAP powers had been expanded to allow Parkinson to prosecute the case again. Harper was released from prison only to be met at the gate by the Lawrence County sheriff, who rearrested her and took her straight to jail. This second trial, held in Clinton County last month, signaled the culmination of Parkinson’s crusade.

Julie Rea Harper was released from prison Thursday after her murder conviction was overturned on a technicality. Before she even got out of prison though, the State's Attorney arrested her again for the murder of her ten-year-old son, Joel.

Well... since the only person who said they would "shoot to kill" an intruder is mbanc... they aren't both "aiming for death".

I didn't say I feel sorry for anyone. I said noone besides mbanc (up until your post, so now, you and mbanc) said they shoot to kill. Most specifically said they would not. And that they would have issues with taking a human life, if in fact the person died.

If I shot an intruder, I would aim for the largest area which would be the torso.

No...I listened to several peoples POV on this case. You read a summary. Big difference.

<<>>

You forget: confession recanted, confession by psycho, no evidence connecting said psycho and actual murder, no charges on psycho, steak knife in home was murder weapon, no forced entry, innocent under the law yes but really innocent? I am not sure. What police error?

<<>>

Really? The boy's father had just won custody of the boy. The boys father stated that the mother said she would do anything to keep the boy away from him. Not to mention there was no forced entry, the murder weapon was a steak knife from her kitchen, and do you really think someone entered a home and murdered a 10 yr old boy? Motive?

Your site is the institute to which represented Ms Rhea. This is not exactly what I would call an unbias source.

She WAS released then rearrested then posted bail. Just because she was again arrested doesnt change my statement at all.

UIS is the institute to which her defense attorneys are affiliated. If this evidence had any bearing dont you think the officers would have been charged with perjury?

The opposition here has been that no one has the right to take a human life. That is where the double standard lies. It isnt ok to kill a human being by lethal injection, but it is ok to kill someone with regards to self defense. That ia a double standard.

Well since killing someone in self defense hasnt been labeled *OK* then do please tell me what it is? What do you think should happen to a person that kills an intruder that is harming them?
