It could bethat the card was closed but the Credit Reporting Agency never marked it as such.

Everytime you get a "pre-approved" offer in the mail, somebody has made an inquiry about your credit history.

And I would be doing all I can do to get it taken OFF my credit report.

I think that grownups should live within their means, and since you usually have to buy a new car every decade or so, there is no reason not to plan for that expense and have the money when you need it. Just put a little in the new car envelope every pay period if you do it that way.

I agree that it is a good idea to have savings like that but not everyone can do that. Just because someone is 40 or older does not mean it is possible for them to do that. It does not make them any less of an adult than someone who does pay their cars in full. You know that is quiite judgemental, right?

Anybody who can pay off a car loan in five years can keep saving toward the next car and buy it five years later. Then as soon as you buy the new car, start saving for the next one. If it takes you five years to save up for the next car but your old one lasts ten years, you are ahead of the game. It is not that difficult.

I guess opining that people should not buy cars they can afford is "judgemental" out there on the island, but telling people that the children they cannot afford are "mistakes" is just how one show's one's class.

Apparently so.
