In the spirit of throwback Thursday, pick a kid (if you have more than one) and remember what you were like at his/her age.

What was your favorite song?

What did you most like to do?

What was your favorite subject in school?

Are any answers the same as what your kid would answer today?

I'll pick The Girl - 17.  So that would have been 1988.  Hmmmmmmm

What was your favorite song? -- Probably something by Def Leppard - Maybe Pour Some Sugar on Me.  Man, that takes me back.  I saw them in concert with Europe.  It was a great show.

What did you most like to do? -- Cheer. Hang with friends and my boyfriend (now my exhusband). Party.

What was your favorite subject in school? -- Speech/Debate

Are any answers the same as what your kid would answer today? -- Really only the hang with friends part.

What was your favorite song? No idea.

What did you most like to do? At 20, probably go for long walks and see my friends.

What was your favorite subject in school? Well, at 20, I was not in school, but when I was in school, before and after age 20, my favorite subjects were usually the languages.

This has been kind of a rough year.  My kids are now at the same ages that I was when unpleasant things took place in my life, and b/c those thing overshadow pretty much the rest of my childhood, I can't seem to remember the answers to any of your fluff question.

But, in general:  My dd has the same sense of style that I had, and it makes her crazy when we are out shopping and she points out shoes or a skirt that she loves, and I respond by telling her that I had owned the same thing, lol.

I'll be my younger one, just getting ready for his senior year of high school.

I have no clue what my favorite song was in those days.  I really liked folk music with a side of social justice, so think Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Arlo Guthrie.

I liked to run.  And I liked to study history and Latin, which were my favorite subjects at school.  I liked to read the Bible.  I liked to write.  I didn't like school and could not wait to get out of high school and start college.  In fact, I took a summer course in American government so that I could get out faster.  I was graduated after the fall semester and started junior college then.

The only part my kid would agree with is the "being sick of school" part.

What was your favorite song?

Don't remember just one song. Anything on the popular radio stations.

What did you most like to do?

Do things with my friends.

What was your favorite subject in school?

Not sure if I had one favorite. I enjoyed the entire year that year.

Are any answers the same as what your kid would answer today?

Probably, yes.

Since all of my children are adults these questions don't really work well for me, but I did notice a  funny thing this year.  DD1 is 30, when I was 30 I had DD3.  DD3 is 24, when I was 24 I had DD1.

My 20's were very different from my DDs.  I married and had three kids between 22 and 30.  None of my DDs are married nor  do they have any children.

1.  I listened to a lot of Jethro Tull back then.  Probably "skating away."

2.  I most liked to climb trees.  We lived in a wooded area and I measured up every big tree as climbable or not.

3.  Math surprisingly.

4. Yes, math and being outdoorsy.  She's a real nature girl.
