1. Do you celebrate Cinco de Mayo?

2. Are you having a party or going to one for Memorial Day?

3. Did you go on a honeymoon?

4. What do you do to de-stress from a long day?

Yes, It is the unofficial start of Summer, Why wouldn't you have a party? Lol.

Edited to change would to wouldn't, Molly, I mean why wouldn't you party, Lol. I do recall times when Memorial weekend was wet and cold and we'd take it inside or to the garage area.

Nah, parties don't negate the rememberance of our fallen. This snide remark does.

Often on Memorial Day we go to the parade downtown which is highlighted by a series of flyovers of historic aircraft, including a performance by the Blue Angels, and then capped by a Missing Man formation which gets to me every time, particularly this year when one of the dedicatees is a WWII naval aviator dear to us whom we lost this past year. Then our neighborhood will gather at the dedication of a small roadside park which will be named after a neighbor boy just one year older than my older son who was killed in Afghanistan two years ago come July. I dunno, "party" at that point seems a bit overdone. Perhaps we will all gather and share a meal, I don't know. No plans, but often these things develop spontaneously in my neighborhood.

Right. Partying and celebrations are the way to honor the fallen. Actually honoring the fallen? That negates the remembrance. Life must be interesting in Opposite Land where you and Molly live.

I don't think parties are over-rated especially given that the weekend overlaps with many other things too, My sister hosted her DS' graduation party that weekend, There are birthday and wedding anniversary parties then, picnics, etc.

When is the parade in your city? In many places it is the actual Memorial day, Monday. The weekend are the couple days before then.

When is the parade in your city, bordwithyou? In many places it's on Memorial day itself, Monday. The weekend is obviously the couple days before.

Cool, Root beer floats! I don't know why but 4th of July parades stand out more than Memorial day.

Yeah, that was their tradition and then on the 4th if July they would have a big party/bbq with all their friends, family and congregation from church.

If you read my post, you would see we DO honor the fallen that day also. Sounds like someone else that just doesnt get invited to parties on that day and has turned it around to make it sound like ones who do have no compassion for the fallen. SMH
