G is for Google: in the BTWG (Before There Was Google) era, how did you typically find answers to stuff?

I is for Idiot: what is something dumb you did lately?

"hardly a meal went by without someone jumping up to access a dictionary, encyclopedia, or atlas." -------- LOL, that reminded me of the good old days when our friends used to laugh because we had a large American Heritage Dictionary permanently parked on the dining room table.

1) I don't brine the turkey. Like most people here, I tried it one year and the results weren't impressive. We get a fresh turkey from a local farm, and it's always good. 2). I used the library and whatever resources I could. When DH and I were first together, hardly a meal went by without someone jumping up to access a dictionary, encyclopedia, or atlas. Now it's mostly pull out the phone and google. 3). The most recent idiocy I am willing to share: I accidentally washed a favorite black wool skirt. I really miss that skirt. 4). Friday: Lately it's been a bit of a nightmare, as is usual as it gets toward the end of the semester.

That 5k through the lights sounds fantastic.

"The Friday before Thanksgiving, before they have officially opened for the season, they have a 5K run at night through the Christmas lights display." ------- That does sound really nice.

"Also, I use olive oil instead of butter to baste." - Great! So, when are you gonna come visit? But as for overdoing and forgetting meds? BAD, BAD girl! Seriously! You take it easy, you hear?

T is for Turkey: do you brine it before roasting or not?  We brined it once and it totally wasn't worth the hassle.  There was no true noticeable difference to make it worth the effort and mess involved.  Our turkeys have always been flavorful and juicy.

G is for Google: in the BTWG (Before There Was Google) era, how did you typically find answers to stuff?  Even though it wasnt that long ago, I have a hard time remembering what life was like pre-computers and internet!  It look much more effort to find answers to things.

I is for Idiot: what is something dumb you did lately?  While making some brown rice in my rice cooker, I rinsed the rice then put it in the rice cooker.  When I went to add the first cup of water, I accidentally added it to my huge OXO container that I store rice in, instead of the cooker. I managed to drain off the water, but it was a PITA with so much rice.

F is for Fun: what is a recent fun thing you did?  Well, technically I haven't done it yet.  Our hospital sponsors this huge drive-through display of lights at a park along the Bay.  The Friday before Thanksgiving, before they have officially opened for the season, they have a 5K run at night through the Christmas lights display.  Our family is participating tonight and really looking forward to it.  My friends did it last year and had a lot of fun.  And thankfully, the weather is cooperating...it's actually seasonably warm!  Last year it was absolutely freezing!

T is for Turkey: do you brine it before roasting or not? -- I have, I didn't notice a huge difference. I have noticed a huge difference with the heat method and prefer that. Also, I use olive oil instead of butter to baste. So delicious!

G is for Google: in the BTWG (Before There Was Google) era, how did you typically find answers to stuff? -- Stealing SavCal's answer: Dictionary, encyclopedia, phone-a-friend, ask-the-audience, lol

I is for Idiot: what is something dumb you did lately? -- Overdid it on Wednesday and then forgot my meds last night. Today I'm back on the couch.

F is for Fun: what is a recent fun thing you did? --Since I've rarely left my bed this week, I've had lots of snuggle time w/the kiddos. Its been really very lovely.

"Oh yes, that's right, we have talked about that elsewhere before, and I remember now. Quite the independent streak in that one. ;)" ------- Yup, and she gets it directly from dad. Dh volunteered for a certain military program back in the day, but before he was called up, the program was cut and he never went. One of his professors drily observed that it was probably just as well, since he would most likely have spent the better part of his service in the brig ;).

<<It was not because they were ugly, it was simply that it WAS a uniform. She objected to private school on the same grounds. See a pattern here?>>

Oh yes, that's right, we have talked about that elsewhere before, and I remember now. Quite the independent streak in that one. ;)

And yes, Boy Scouts of America is a religious organization. I am not sure DS will earn the arrow point (the highest honor) due to the fact that we are not pushing him to fulfill the religious duties he is supposed to do. He's not in it for the badges and belt loops anyway; he is in it for the fellowship and camping trips. ;)

"No one was willing to try them, so they were trashed." ------ Weenies! ;) Maybe they were totally fab.
