We switch every other year between my family and DH's family. I'm going to make pumpkin pies and DH is going to make the gravy when we get there. Thanksgiving is a lot more pleasant now that we aren't traveling to get anywhere. DH and DD have the whole week off, so I took off Monday and Tuesday to be home all week too.

I usually don't decorate for Christmas until the second weekend in December so, when we go get our tree. I'm planning to clean really thoroughly over the Thanksgiving break, because Santa doesn't come if the house is dirty.

We go to the in-laws for Thanksgiving and they seem to prefer that I don't cook or bake anything. We're taking a turkey fryer and peanut oil as a passing dish.

Making the "Thanksgiving Decision" is so stressful for me. For several years we hosted because we have Mom & Dad's house with the wheelchair ramp. Now that my brother is gone, we don't have to host anymore, but I feel guilty if I don't.

This year, we are going to the In-Laws. I work 4 10-hour shifts at my job and get one day off a week. During a holiday week, our day off is the holiday. That means I really don't get any time off for holidays. I work a regular 40 hour week. The idea of trying to host Thanksgiving while not having a day or two off to get ready or recover just is too much for me. So I decided we're going to the in-laws. So there!

At least Christmas is on a weekend. I'll offer to host then. I'll at least have Saturday to get ready.
