Yes, never changed. We have always been good friends and remain so. I am very thankful for my baby brother, speaking of Thanksgiving.

I remember when it was taken. My grin is because I thought my baby brother was the greatest thing ever. Not sure why really. I wasn't the type who was in to dolls and cutesy stuff.

People always say that my brothers and I look alike, which baffles me. I am a copy of my dad, and my youngest brother's face is a copy of my mom's, whereas my other brother is a copy of our grandfather (who looked like neither of our parents).

My dh would love a household like that. He was sort of disappointed that neither of our girls is a lefty (dd2 was pretty ambidextrous when she was little, so he was hoping). It is funny how kids with the same parents can look so different. One of my kids is blonde, fair, and blue-eyed like me, and the other is the spitting image of dh, who is dark-complected and has brown hair (except that dd has green eyes like my mom). Yet people often comment that my girls look alike, and I do think they look like siblings.

Growing up, I had to adjust somewhat to living in a lefty household - our vegetable/potato peeler only worked if you used it left handed, the cord on the iron was arranged for lefties to name a few. In my house now, it's the opposite. The computer mouse is on the right, and my mother can't use my can opener b/c it's made for right handed people (growing up, we always used an electric one so my parents didn't have that problem). Ds has become somewhat ambidextrous, especially with sports. He golfs right handed b/c he learned using his older brother's right handed clubs. He bats right handed but throws as a lefty. With lacrosse, he's at an advantage b/c he can use both hands interchangeably for carrying his stick. Dd is more of a true lefty and so far has had to accommodate for growing up in a right-hand dominant household. The genetics to this fascinate me - my two lefties are truly oddballs to our family. Aside from them both being lefties, they both have fair skin, blue eyes and blond hair, while the rest of us (dh, dd1, dd2 and me) all have olive skin, brown/dark brown hair, brown eyes, and are right handed. People comment all the time on the "two families" I have (the lefties are the younger two of my four). I've had people wonder if they have a different father than my older two! I do think it's cool though that I have two lefties and that my parents' recessive genes somehow appeared in my own kids (well, my mom's mostly as she is the fair, blue eyed one - my father is Italian). My mom jokes that she had to wait forever for someone to inherit her blue eyes (they are the last of her biological grandchildren and the only ones with her blue eyes and fair skin!).

Did anyone know that the Latin words for left and right are the root words for sinister (left) and dexterous (right)? There were prejudices from early on.

Hmmm, there are a lot of parallels to homosexuality here ...
