Okay, I can understand that. Some Thanksgivings feel more like Thanksgiving than others. I've been to Thanksgivings that had paella instead of turkey, a vegan Thanksgiving with co-workers, Thanksgiving with dozens of family present, Thanksgiving alone with DH, potluck, host cooks, football, no football, buffet, non-buffet, etc. I certainly have personal preferences, but I've never thought of there being a right or proper way to do it. In my opinion, there is no way for Thanksgiving to "not work" as long as there is a meal, someone to share it with, and a feeling of gratitude for what one has.
