The Remember When thread has me thinking about myself when I first came to iVillage and how much things have changed since then. Anybody else want to play?
I came to iVillage in the summer of 2000. I was 36 and working as HR Manager for an internationally-owned manufacturing company I was divorced with a 6 1/2-yr-old disabled son, and my ex had committed suicide a few months before. This was actually the event that led me to iVillage in the first place. I was one of those "Have to work" moms and was told by several when I first came here that I had no place in this debate because I had no choice.
Now, I'm 51 and my son is 21. For the past tnot-quite-ten years I've worked as the business manager for a small architecture firm. Eight years ago, I also absorbed the marketing coordinator's position. The job(s) and the company have been overwhelmingly stressful at times but have changed greatly over the past few years, due to economic/market and ownership changes. I am now in a very comfortable position within the company. I also no longer really have to work. My son is now in a position to offer to take care of things if I want to quit and take some time to figure out what I want to do. That offer has led me to the realization that despite the stress, long hours (which really isn't an issue anymore anyway) and frustration, I am already doing what I want to do. I'll be sticking around there.

I get a lot of interesting requests to follow me and some of them are just down right bizarre. I'm private, so people have to request to follow me, I deny 3-4 everytime I remember to look at that page which is only slighty more often than I look at twitter.

She's not. She "lost" it. At least that's what she told me when we were PMing. Of course, she'll lie about that, too...
Really Queen? Would you like to show me WHERE I said that? Please do as I still have the entire conversation. ANOTHER LIE.
I must have a lot of affairs then - I have many men following my Twitter.

Yeah--like you don't regularly stalk us on Linked In. We can actually SEE that, Ginger.
Just like I saw Chestnut's dh "stalk" me on linked in and Ducky's dd tried to follow me on fb. Linkedin is a PUBLIC forum and that is not stalking for your information. Trying to follow someone on fb IS stalking.
