The Remember When thread has me thinking about myself when I first came to iVillage and how much things have changed since then. Anybody else want to play?
I came to iVillage in the summer of 2000. I was 36 and working as HR Manager for an internationally-owned manufacturing company I was divorced with a 6 1/2-yr-old disabled son, and my ex had committed suicide a few months before. This was actually the event that led me to iVillage in the first place. I was one of those "Have to work" moms and was told by several when I first came here that I had no place in this debate because I had no choice.
Now, I'm 51 and my son is 21. For the past tnot-quite-ten years I've worked as the business manager for a small architecture firm. Eight years ago, I also absorbed the marketing coordinator's position. The job(s) and the company have been overwhelmingly stressful at times but have changed greatly over the past few years, due to economic/market and ownership changes. I am now in a very comfortable position within the company. I also no longer really have to work. My son is now in a position to offer to take care of things if I want to quit and take some time to figure out what I want to do. That offer has led me to the realization that despite the stress, long hours (which really isn't an issue anymore anyway) and frustration, I am already doing what I want to do. I'll be sticking around there.

Hey....I've won the lottery in many countries, according to my email anyway.

I wonder if one could assume that public record removal was part of the deal?

I didn't make you wait three months. You told me what you had and I called bullshit on it. I'd post the message in its entirety but I can't access it b/c I don't remember the password for the account I created SOLELY to correspond with you b/c you are that untrustworthy.
You have nothing b/c there IS nothing. As much as you wish you could find something on my husband to humiliate me like I humiliated you with that link to Swiper's arrest, there is nothing remotely salacious in DH's life. But by all means, keep working to photoshop something in your pathetic attempt to humiliate me. LIke I said, the banshees could use yet another laugh at your expense today.
Yea....I don't think so, denial....not just a river in Egypt.

It's hilarious molls and really, really lame on your part. I wonder though....does it sound like that to you because it hits close to home? If so, I'm not laughing at that....just your cackling and lack of proof.

Says the woman who posts pics of herself on FB in bikinis. <eyeroll> I'm not trying to impress you or anyone else, Ginger--I'm just stating a fact. My husband loves my body. And don't go all prudish--we're heard plenty about Swiper chasing you around the bed over the years. Save the pearl clutching for Jambles. It's disingenuous from you.
Talk about stalking lol. I don't put up anything to impress. That is the only type of bathing suit I wear and the pics you saw were ones my hubby took. He thinks since I work so hard at exercise that I should be wearing them. Shrug.
If you want to attack me because I have a medical condition that requires invasive procedures to get pregnant, go right ahead. Once again, that's just proving what a unconsciable BITCH you are. Quite honestly, I'm enjoying infertility right now. All the sex I want and no need for birth control. But by all means, feel free to attack me for something completely out of control and show us all just how fucking classy you are.
I only attacked you because you attacked me. That is great you are enjoying your infertility. I have enjoyed my dh's V over 7 years ago as there is no need for birth control either.
Does it help that I didn't need a Christmas bonus to pay for my babies?
Nah, we just don't have to work as many hours as your dh. Heck my dh makes quite a lot of money for the hours he works. lol
Legal Definition of "Arrest:"
arrest
v. 1) to take or hold a suspected criminal with legal authority, as by a law enforcement officer. An arrest may be made legally based on a warrant issued by a court after receiving a sworn statement of probable cause to believe there has been a crime committed by this person, for an apparent crime committed in the presence of the arresting officer, or upon probable cause to believe a crime has been committed by that person. Once the arrest has been made, the officer must give the arrestee his/her rights ("Miranda rights") at the first practical moment, and either cite the person to appear in court or bring him/her in to jail. A person arrested must be brought before a judge for arraignment in a short time (e.g. within two business days), and have his/her bail set. A private "security guard" can not actually arrest someone except by citizen's arrest, but can hold someone briefly until a law officer is summoned. A "citizen's arrest" can be made by any person when a crime has been committed in his/her presence. However, such self-help arrests can lead to lawsuits for "false arrest" if proved to be mistaken, unjustified or involving unnecessary holding. 2) to delay the enforcement of a judgment by a judge while errors in the record are corrected. (See: warrant of arrest, false arrest, probable cause, Miranda warning)
Gotcha, public record still there.
