The Remember When thread has me thinking about myself when I first came to iVillage and how much things have changed since then.  Anybody else want to play?

I came to iVillage in the summer of 2000.  I was 36 and working as HR Manager for an internationally-owned manufacturing company  I was divorced with a 6 1/2-yr-old disabled son, and my ex had committed suicide a few months before.  This was actually the event that led me to iVillage in the first place.  I was one of those "Have to work" moms and was told by several when I first came here that I had no place in this debate because I had no choice.

Now, I'm 51 and my son is 21.  For the past tnot-quite-ten years I've worked as the business manager for a small architecture firm.  Eight years ago, I also absorbed the marketing coordinator's position.  The job(s) and the company have been overwhelmingly stressful at times but have changed greatly over the past few years, due to economic/market and ownership changes.  I am now in a very comfortable position within the company.  I also no longer really have to work.  My son is now in a position to offer to take care of things if I want to quit and take some time to figure out what I want to do.  That offer has led me to the realization that despite the stress, long hours (which really isn't an issue anymore anyway) and frustration, I am already doing what I want to do.  I'll be sticking around there.

Dear Molly,

Before you get all superior about your tech skills and knowledge of social networks, you should first master the quote function, hyperlink function, and display photo function on the message board that you've made tens of thousands of posts on for the last decade.

Cheers!

And yet you haven't been too busy to post all afternoon.

You got nothing. GL w/photoshop, though.

Yes, as the last 100 or so posts today clearly prove.

Gosh golly gee-suz! This must be so embarrassing for you, Molly. Calling people out for being in wheelchairs, having medical issues, and being crime victims? That's all you got? Poor, poor Molly. :(

I forgot, you also took the time to call some kids trash while you were at it.
