Thinking of getting a tatoo..

I am seriously considering getting a tatoo in memory of Devin. I was thinking of getting a shamrock with his initals underneath it but co-workers have talked me out of that idea. It might not be the best idea for a future relationship. So now, I am thinking about a small cross on my ankle or my shoulderblade.

Do tatoos really hurt? I cry when I get my eyebrows waxed. I am such a wimp!

Where is the best location? I really can't decide. Shoulderblade, top of the foot, stomach or ankle? I am leaning toward the ankle but do I have to careful about shoes afterward?

Well, I have a tattoo AND its on my ankle! So I'll try to answer. First of all, there is NOTHING wrong with getting his initials if that is what you want. I think that any man worth his salt is going to understand that, and wouldnt be bothered by it. You could intertwine them and make them rather *celtic* looking if you wanted, so they arent as noticable. But a small cross would be nice too (maybe a small cross with his initals inside it?)

The most painful places for tattoos are the breast, bicep and chest. The one on my ankle didnt hurt except for the areas where it was pretty much skin over bone, I wouldnt recommend the top of your foot, that is probably a bad spot. I dont think the shoulderblade one would be that painful. But yeah, they do hurt, I wont lie to ya!! Not as much as childbirth, lol (thats my barometer for everything when it comes to pain).

You know what you need to do? Go in and talk to a tattoo artist (make sure its a reputable place too, although the risks of aids are very very minimal, still make sure they use fresh needles, have all their certifications, are clean, etc). Tell them what you want and why. They will give you ideas, let you look through their design books, and be very honest about which would be the best (least painful) places to get a tat.

I love tattoos and think they can be very beautiful (tastefully done). I am going to get another one within the next year, in right between my shoulder blades above my bra line. I'm going to get a sun and moon intertwined with my kids names around the outside.

I don't have a tatoo, but I think the idea of getting one in Devin's memory is a good one. And get his initials if you want. He was a very important part of your life and as DJ said, any guy worth his salt won't be bothered by it.

I've thought about getting a tatoo in my "old age." I'd love to get a little rose bud above my breast so someday I have a long stemmer. ;-)

Actually, I'd like to get something on my ankle. I think they are really cool.

And don't be such a wuss. Grin and bear it. It's for Devin. Buck up, bucko. ;-)

Yeah, I think if he could survive 2 brain surgeries (one awake), one round of radiation and endless rounds of chemo, I can get a tatoo. I'll just think of how much he did to survive with no complaining.

Monday would have been his birthday and I might see if I can get it then.

Go for it! That's the attitude to have!

I'd love to get a tatoo with my guys' initials in it. Maybe a shamrock with one initial in each leaf. DH thinks I'm getting weird in my old age. I look at it as doing things I've always been too afraid to do: afraid of what others would think, afraid of the cost. Now I don't give a flying fig.
