Would you let your (minor) child color his/her hair something bold like green, pink, orange?

Does your child get an allowance?  Did you get an allowance as a child?

Have schools gone too far in adopting a common core into thier curriculums?  Thoughts?

1. Probably. Why not?

2. They got allowances.  I occasionally got allowance as a child, when my patents remembered it and/or had money to give out.

3.  I don't know.  Since mg younger son is graduating this year, I've allowed myself a break from ranting over the political idiocy and intellectual travesty that public education in this country had become.

No, they has to follow the school dress code and it prohibited none natural hair color.  I thought that DD3 would go for a hair color like that after she graduated but she didn't.

They do not get allowances now but did as minors.  I did also.

I have no idea what is going on in schools.  My youngest graduated high school in 2007.

No, Even if it were with her money I'd say no.  No, But I do randomly pay them for doing things.  I did get an allowance but it wasn't an earned thing, We got a buck every Sunday, Every now and then we got more but I can't say I learned the concept, the responsibilities that come with money by that allowance.  I think this is a good idea in theory but hardly something schools will be successful with if they are looking for some universal plan for education, No two schools are alike and I don't think they should be.

Those are my thoughts about hair color too, emptynester. I treated my girls to a salon day last Spring break and DD2 begged I let her go pink even if it meant taking money out of her bank account. As her parent I made that final call and said no, If later on she choses to dye her hair orange or pink she can do it but she knows where I stand. She's a kid with a pretty bold personality so who knows what later years will mean, Lol.

Common core pretty much flies over my head too but I attended a meeting a couple months ago for parents whose kids are on IEPs and we discussed it, It's pretty much a one standard across the board and everywhere kind of thing which sounds perfect in theory but would probably fail and fall short in real life.  And its funny we would discuss it at an IEP meeting where standards should be consistent and alike b/c it is federally mandated but even that is not.

Yes. It is hair, it will grow back.

They get money but not the same and not on a weekly basis. Yes I did.

Yes but no real thoughts as it is getting too much reading it everyday. Lol. My ds who is going through it right now has no problem so it hasnt affected us that way.

Would you let your (minor) child color his/her hair something bold like green, pink, orange? --  As long as they paid for it with their money, and it wasn't a spontaneous decision, yes.  Shoot, I just put big bold blue streaks in mine!

Does your child get an allowance?  Did you get an allowance as a child?  -- Yes and yes.

Have schools gone too far in adopting a common core into thier curriculums?  Thoughts?  -- My kids are old enough that I've not gotten very deeply involved. I do think the uproar over the math curriculum is blown out of proportion.

    1.  Most likely, if they were in school they might not agree though, lol.

    2.  Yes

    3.  Yes

    4.  I would ask for specifics since this is such a broad question but I'm sure I wouldn't receive a response, so I'll pass on this question.

    1. I would have.  The ex would NOT, so the answer was no.

    2.  I don't know; you'd have to take that up with his wife.

    3. I'm in Gramma mode; I don't have much foundation in what's going on in school these days other than finding out when the next play DGS1 wants to go to next (it's become our "thing").
