1. Childhood Telephones --  Did you have a party line telephone?  No

Did you have a phone in your room? When I was 16 but it was not a separate line.

What about your own line with its own number? Never when I was living at home. Only got my own line with my dh when I moved out and got married.

2.  Early computers -- when did you get your first computer? We had one as a family when I was in my late teens, not sure what year though. Dh and I got our first one in 2000.

When did you first get internet service? 2000

3.  TV -- Did you have cable service in your childhood? Nope. I always felt like I was the last one to get MTV. lol.

4. Movies - Did your family watch movies often? If so, was it at the theatre? on VHS? on laserdisc? Not really. Here and there but not big movie people.

5. Movies part 2 - What was your first R rated movie and how old were you? The Lost Boys on my 16th bday. A bunch of my friends and I got in the theater as 15 and 16 year olds lol.

1. Childhood Telephones --  Did you have a party line telephone? Did you have a phone in your room? What about your own line with its own number? -- When we moved to the farm (I was 9) we had a party line, until we moved into town (my junior year).  The party line was us, my grandparents, and a neighbor. Our ring was two shorts.  I never had a phone in my room or my own line.

2.  Early computers -- when did you get your first computer? When did you first get internet service? -- I think we got our first computer in approximately 1995.  We didn't have internet service until 1997ish.

3.  TV -- Did you have cable service in your childhood? -- We never had cable until my junior year of high school. We had an antenna, and got the three main networks, PBS, and two or three local networks.

4. Movies - Did your family watch movies often? If so, was it at the theatre? on VHS? on laserdisc? -- We did watch quite a lot of movies.  We went to the movies a lot, then watched a lot on VHS and laserdisc. And then, of course, once my parents opened the movie theatre we REALLY watched a lot.

5. Movies part 2 - What was your first R rated movie and how old were you? -- Little Darlings; I was 9.  The parent of a friend took us.  That movie probably wouldn't get an R now, lol.

1. Childhood Telephones --  Did you have a party line telephone? Did you have a phone in your room? What about your own line with its own number?

Not that I remember, I received a phone in my room for my 16th birthday, princess phone of course.  Wink It was not my own number.

2.  Early computers -- when did you get your first computer? When did you first get internet service?

We had a home computer in the 90's I think.  I bought my own computer at some point when I was out of the house, can't remember exactly when.  Internet it was pretty early, it was dial up and it was loud, lol.

3.  TV -- Did you have cable service in your childhood?

Yes, our area was one of the first to receive cable service if I remember correctly, I was in high school.

4. Movies - Did your family watch movies often? If so, was it at the theatre? on VHS? on laserdisc?

We did, mostly on tv.  We didn't have a laserdisc or a vhs for a long time, just cable.

5. Movies part 2 - What was your first R rated movie and how old were you?

Blue Lagoon and I think I was 15 or 16.

1. Childhood Telephones --  Did you have a party line telephone? Did you have a phone in your room? What about your own line with its own number? Ha! None of the above. We had one friend in middle school, who had her own line/number. She was an only child, which then was really unusual. We chalked it up to the only child thing.

2.  Early computers -- when did you get your first computer? When did you first get internet service? We got a Mac Plus for the office back in the 80s.We got internet around the time when we started the move to Greece. In fact, the advent of the internet was the reason we even could move to Greece.

3.  TV -- Did you have cable service in your childhood? LOL, you are cute. The big TV event of my childhood was when they added a second channel. Until then, we just had the one channel. The second channel was focused on entertainment (as opposed to news and education). We thought that was quite extravagant.

4. Movies - Did your family watch movies often? If so, was it at the theatre? on VHS? on laserdisc? On Sundays, the single TV channel showed an old movie, usually American and from the Clark Gable era. We sometimes watched with my mom. Going to the cinema was a rare event.

5. Movies part 2 - What was your first R rated movie and how old were you? Not sure. I remember seeing Cabaret with my dad, when I was about 11 or 12. It is probably not R-rated, but I thought it was terribly grown-up. I also remember seeing The Shining with friends, when I was about 16.

1. Childhood Telephones --  Did you have a party line telephone? Did you have a phone in your room? What about your own line with its own number?

We had a party line until we moved in 1968.  I didn't have a phone in my room.  My dad was adamant that phones were for emergencies only and didn't want us to use it.  We did anyway, when he wasn't there.  ;)

2.  Early computers -- when did you get your first computer? When did you first get internet service?

I was 38 when I got my first computer.  My first internet at home was around the same time.

3.  TV -- Did you have cable service in your childhood?

No.  It wasn't even available where we lived until we moved when I was 16.  I think I was 20 when we first had it at home.

4. Movies - Did your family watch movies often? If so, was it at the theatre? on VHS? on laserdisc?

Yes, we went to movies fairly often.  Sometimes we watched them on TV.  We didn't have VHS until I was an adult.

5. Movies part 2 - What was your first R rated movie and how old were you?

The Blue Lagoon.  I was 16.

We had a party line up until I was in high school.

No phone in my room, or my own number.

I had a word processor when I was in college. Dh and I got a new one, soon after we were married, so about 1994/1995, and internet very soon after that.

Yes, we had cable.

We rented a VCR almost every weekend, until we finally purchased our own, lol.

I don't remember my first rated R movie.

1. Childhood Telephones --  Did you have a party line telephone? Did you have a phone in your room? What about your own line with its own number?

No; No, but the cordless reached into my room; No, but we had call waiting.

2.  Early computers -- when did you get your first computer? When did you first get internet service?

My dad sold his hobby car to buy a computer in 1987, a Tandy 1000.  We got internet in 1992, I think.

3.  TV -- Did you have cable service in your childhood?

Not until I was 17 and practically out of the house.  We had an antennae though and got about 15 stations that way.

4. Movies - Did your family watch movies often? If so, was it at the theatre? on VHS? on laserdisc?

We watched some movies on TV and taped some of them to watch later.  We had almost all of the disney animated movies on VHS tapes.  We rarely went to the theater.

5. Movies part 2 - What was your first R rated movie and how old were you?

I can't remember, and my parents didn't make a big deal about movie ratings.  We didn't go see many movies out though.  I remember watching Speed at a slumber party when I was in junior high.  Maybe it was that one?

1. Childhood Telephones --  Did you have a party line telephone? Did you have a phone in your room? What about your own line with its own number?

No party line. I think I was 14 when I got a phone in my room, but not my own number. Mine was a Conair clear phone.

2.  Early computers -- when did you get your first computer? When did you first get internet service?

Computer-1993. Internet-1993. I've been online so long that I remember signing into Prodigy and finding just a dozen or so people in the welcome lobby. Updating to Win95 was a big event for us.

3.  TV -- Did you have cable service in your childhood?

Sometimes. I remember connecting to cable right before MTV debuted in 1980.

4. Movies - Did your family watch movies often? If so, was it at the theatre? on VHS? on laserdisc?

My dad loved all those cheeseball Canonball Run type movies. Pretty much anything with a fast car, Burt Reynolds, and a primate. My mom loves old black and white movies. My younger brother and I were huge movie buffs. We watched VHS tapes all of the time.

5. Movies part 2 - What was your first R rated movie and how old were you?

DC Cab. I was 9. A friend and I had paid for tickets to go see a My Little Pony Movie or something and then she had the bright idea to sneak us in. I think this was the beginning of my crush on Bill Maher. :)
