Very appropriate. Thanks for posting it. We were so glad that Erica found her before mil died. We probably won't hear from her much as it's been almost 20 year gap. She's between Erica and Angela in age and she might keep in touch with Erica. But it still was nice to get reacquainted and to pass on some of grandma's things to her.

Seems like a nice place to add this; it was on another board I visit regularly...

You guys have prompted me to add my fb story. My mil lost one of her granddaughters when her 2nd son cut himself off from the family. He and his wife divorces and we lost contact with his daughter. Erica found her on fb and contacted her. She was able to renew her connection to her grandmother and the rest of us before my mil died. And we were able to give her the jewerly and other things that mil wanted her to have.

What a poignant story..thanks for sharing that.
I've become very good friends on FB with my late sisters best friend from high school- someone who was a fixture in our house growing up...but I hadn't seen since I was about 10 -- turns out she has a gay son and is very involved in equality rights-- we've emailed and chatted and she told me she felt so lost when she heard my sister died and how she thinks my sister gave her a little nudge to befriend me -- it's been a really lovely new friendship...

I got the most poignant facebook friend request early this summer. It was from the daughter of a woman whose parents were friends of mine in college. We were pregnant together with our first kids, this girl was born within a week of my son. When the daughter was about fourteen, the mother died of breast cancer after fighting it for about seven years, so most of the daughters memories of her mother were when she was sick. When she died, I had more or less lost track of the family, but I did have a lot of things from college, pictures and postcards and things like that. I made two scrapbooks of our college years and sent them to the father to give to the kids (there is a younger brother, too) when he felt the time was right, and so he gave the first one to the daughter this May when she was graduated from high school. The girl found me on facebook and said she was really interested in hearing more stories about her Mom when she was young, so over the summer we e-mailed back and forth many times, and now the girl is spending the year in France on a Rotary Exchange (her mother was a French major in college, which no one had remembered to tell the girl because Mom was a triple major and her career had been in environmental sciences) and I am enjoying reading her updates and I am really thankful that facebook has allowed this girl to meet not only me, but other people who knew her Mom and helped her to learn more about who her mother really was.

I saw the trailer for it the other day. I might have to see it, just because. Can't hurt that the Zombieland guy is in it.
