1. Do you keep up with celebrity news (watch it on TV, read it online, read newspaper or magazines)?

2. What are you wearing today?

3. College-did you go? Did you stay home, go away? Did/does/will your children stay home or go away?

I haven't seen Les Mis (the show, that is...I will not see the movie as I absolutely refuse to see movies that were originally staged shows.  It's a serious pet peeve of mine) but I loved the book so much.  I read it during the summer between 7th and 8th grades, and I just adored it.  I should try it again, if I ever have that kind of time available.

That's not hitting below the belt. The woman claimed she was able to keep up with everything - celebrity gossip, popular culture, local news, international news, you name it. I'm pointing out that's impossible. We all keep up with limited amounts of stuff, and we all have to prioritize. She's insinuated I must take in laundry for pay, that I'm old and out of touch, and all kinds of nutty stuff which is more laughable than insulting. Im saying she's better informed on celebrity gossip than on more substantive issues.

Well, Spring, we got into an argument years ago about whether my older son was better educated than you are. And now I think both of them are. They might not know which celebrity is divorcing which other celebrity, but can talk reasonably well about one of the seminal novels of the 19th ccentury's

Lol your insult means nothing, you know. What is your oldest's major?

1. Do you keep up with celebrity news (watch it on TV, read it online, read newspaper or magazines)? -- No, in fact, I tried to avoid most of it.

2. What are you wearing today? -- right now I"m in PJs.  But for work I had on a pair of black flats, black pinstripe dress pants, a magenta 3/4 sleeve blouse and my favorite "wine" earrings.

3. College-did you go? Did you stay home, go away? Did/does/will your children stay home or go away? -- I went to a regional state school about 65 miles from home.   The Girl is looking at a (different) regional state school that is about 45 miles from here.  The Boy - I have no idea, although he has recently started firting with the idea of doing trumpet performance/music education as his major.

Well, if their kids are in their 30s, like mine and my DIL are, they would know her, but I can't imagine why anyone with kids NOW would know her.  Her last show as a live actress (vs a cartoon voice) on Nickelodeon was in 2002.

My youngest was born in 2003 and knows her.

Lol, Magazine reads at the ortho office. That's usually where I read People or Us, That and the dealership when I get my car serviced.

Only if I forget my Kindle and am out of lives on Candy Crush! lol

That explains it. My oldest was born in 2002, so he wasn't watching Nick. Or anything else.

My youngest was born in 2003 and he has and still does watch Nick and Disney channel. He knows who Amanda Bynes is as well as other older actresses.

I don't even know if we get TMZ, or if we do, what channel it is.

And I had to swallow a snort at the last half of your last sentence.

But that didn't make her newsworthy until she died.

No, she was very newsworthy when she got sick. I guess if you don't keep up with things like that you would not know and think it was just another passing of a celebrity.

"To fit in" were not your exact words, so I didn't put them in quotes. But the sense that I got was that people talk about these things at parties you attend, so it is important that you can, too. But if you didn't mean you talk about these things to fit in with the group, what did you mean?

Exactly, that is NOT what I said. Thanks.
