1. When you go out with friends, what is your favorite drink (alcoholic or non).

2. How often do you go out socially?

3. Have you changed your eating habit in the last year or two?

I think of it as meeting up with friends out for dinner or drinks or having people to the house or going to someone's house -- not just the two of us or the 3 of us going out as that's family /couple time-- however there is that gray area when the two ofus will go to a 'destination' like a women's T-dance or a karaoke night at a gay bar that seems like going out socially even if its just the two of us going...

Hmmm...yeah I can see that as socially too as you are doing things with others, not just going to dinner or sitting at a bar with each other.

1. Hard to say, actually, as I've had to give up or hugely reduce my Big Three (in order, Diet Coke, coffee, iced tea).  I suppose water, or when available, decaf iced tea.  When I go for alcohol, I like beer when I'm on a budget and screwdriver for a mixed drink.  If I have a mixed drink at home, it's always gin and 7-up--this is usually ONLY when my Mom comes to visit.

2.  Couple times a month.  I eat lunch with a group of ladies at work daily.  And there's another group of us (on different shifts) who go out monthly (not at work).  I've gone out for dinner a couple times this month when people from the internet have come to visit, and I have a group of good friends here in the DC area whom I originally met on iVillage's Current Debates board--but that was back when iVillage was still on the rainforest servers.

3. Eating habits?  a little, but mostly drinking habits.  I've recently developed some serious issues with heartburn and reflux, as well as raging insomnia, which has driven me giving up both caffeine and highly acidic beverages.  I've given up virtually all sodas.  I will likely occasionally still have a 7-up now and again--the door is open to that, but I haven't yet.  I've given up regular coffee completely and only have a cup or two of decaf once a week or so (often on Saturday or Sunday morning).  I've given away my big coffee pot  and have a coffee press now.  And I've switched over to decaf tea as well--again, maybe a cup or three per week.  Nothing like my past habit which was a pot of coffee per day, plus the occasional soda on top of that.

That, plus a two week regimen of Prilosec, has pretty much solved the heartburn issue, but the insomnia has continued, so this week, my doctor and I decided I would try an OTC menopause supplement.  Too soon to tell how that's going, but I did sleep pretty well yesterday and today.  I'll feel better if it lasts all week.

I consider all of it going out socially.  Idon't live with my son and DIL, hence going out with them is generally social in nature and often their friends or DIL's family will come with.  Going out with coworkers is absolutely social, as is going out with my friends.

YMMV, but I am not obligated to limit my definitions to your way of thinking.

With DH I would only count it as doing something socially if we left the house to do it.  Because there is a different element there that does make if feel more social,  watching a movie in a theatre is different from watching a movie at home, eating in a restaurant is different than eating at home.

Aside from DH I would consider most  planned interaction with people I know to be a social event, whether at my house, their house or out in public.   I would include my DDs in that because since  they are on their own getting together is something that is usually planned.   They came over for dinner on Sunday and it was very much a social event.

Going out for lunch with co-workers is something that never happens.  Most of us eat at work.  But if it did then I think that I would consider it a social event because leaving work does add a different element that makes it more social.

Hey Sav....remember that drink we had last summer at the ball game?  Wine and diet coke, what did they call it, do you remember?

PKA, Kalimotxo ... I've drank it at home a few times. Not nearly as good as our friendly bartender made though ...

I didn't include going out with just my dh or family but did include events when dh and I went out with other couples or friends.  Like dinner out at the local resturant with the family I didn't count, but dinner with dh and 6 other couples, I did count.  Lunch with girlfriends I would count but lunch with co-workers I didn't.  I didn't count sporting events which can be very social even though I know families across the area from many years of sports.

That brings me to the 2-3 a week on average.

Wow, 2-3 times a week out to dinner? I thought you cooked more at home after seeing your menu's. That sounds nice to not have to cook that much :)
