Another poster commented that it would be TMI to be a friend to her child on her facebook page. I find that quite odd.

I do agree though with the content of some walls though that it is TMI-lol

Not enjoy what? Speaking to a niece of nephew or a cousin or family friend?

I had several "youth" fb friends, and I did not enjoy it all that much, lol. I ended up hiding most of their news feeds (the ones that I didnt unfriend, anyway) b/c they were mostly full of nonsesical, youth type stuff, or drama, that I just didn't have the time or patience for. Ultimately, I gave up fb all together, b/c I was finding that the adults weren't really any better behaved than the kids!

Maybe emptynexter was just giving you the benefit of thinking you didn't do something that you don't enjoy--expecially something like FB where it is not any kind of necessity to use in the first place.

I hear you. I am also amazed that some people have their kids friend the friends of the parent, including casual acquaintances and people they met on the internet.

I have allowed several of my older son's high school friiends to friend me, not until they are sixteen or so. Mostly I think they want to see my photos as I take a lot of pictures of high school events. They are a pretty well behaved bunch. I have to unfriend many of them because they will be going to college at the place where I teach.

i really don't know what you're trying to say here, your positions seem to be more about hte poster than what's actually said.
