I am sitting here listening to the new Dolly Parton CD "Just Because I'm a Woman" which has other artists covering her music. It is awesome. Norah Jones, Sinead O'Connor, Shania Twain, Melissa Etheridge and others are on it.

Anyone else listened to any good CD's lately? I almost bought the new REM CD instead but I am glad I chose this one.

Does DS's Sesame Street CD count? Otherwise it's talk radio for me when we're in the car (the only time I've got music on).

Sounds like a good CD though...

I always listen to talk radio in the car. We switch between talk radio and the contemporary Christian channel and the alternative music channel. Zak hates the talk radio-he just sighs and says, "Can't we listen to music? Please." Poor guy. He knows all the Dave Ramsey commercials now.

I havent bought any new cds in soooo long! Seems like it always gets shunted to the bottom of the priority list.

There are quite a few that I want to get, The new Missy Elliott, Cheryl Crow (I do like the remake she did of that Rod Stewart song!), Black eyed peas, hmmm see I cant even remember which ones I want half the time, lol!

The last cd I bought was Eminem. Yes, I like him. I think he is really gifted and his songs make me laugh-I love that kind of sarcastic humor.

I also think Eminem is really talented. I tend not to be as aware of the "lyrics" as much but the flow of his rap is really cool. I especially like the song from 8 Mile.

I can't remember the last time I bought a CD for myself. The last 2 CDS I bought were for my dd: "Silly Songs with Disney characters" and this CD by Laurie something -- kind of a hippie chick with a guitar singing children's songs that she wrote.

The Dolly Parton CD sounds promising. I only have one CD of hers, but I love it. I think it's one of her earlier ones. Her "I will always love you" is one of my all time favorites.

I have Horns and Halo's which is one of her bluegrass CD's. I love it. On this CD, Melissa Etheridge sings "I Will Always Love You" and does a great job. I never would have thought about her singing that song.

I remember listening to an interview with Dolly Parton and they asked her about Whitney Houston singing "I Will Always Love You." She said she didn't mind Whitney singing it since the song was copyrighted by her. She said that every time she was heard Whitney singing it a cash register clicked in her head.

I think Dolly Parton is one of the funniest women alive. She was on Oprah Tuesday and Oprah asked her how she got her breasts to stay so perky. Dolly did not even pause and said "Doctors." She has also said that it takes alot of money to look as trashy as she does.

That's too funny! She seems really down to earth.

Now I'm really curious. One of the things I love about her version of that song is her pure high wispy gentle voice-- very different from what I remember ME's voice to be.

I'll have to stop by the store this weekend. I'm taking our dd to the mall for her first "pictures taken by people other than her family." She doesn't do well with strangers so we'll have to see if this will be an afternoon of torture or an opportunity to get some good Christmas cards made.

The soundtrack to Sweet Home Alabama is great. I also recently purchased one of Billy Joel's greatest hits, as well as Aretha Franklin's and Gladys Knight and the Pips. DS1 bought a CD by Three Doors Down. Very good. He also bought the soundtrack to Holes. Also very good. We also have Santana's Shaman.

Well ... no surprise, I listen to loud hard rocking wailing gut guitar music.

I'm gonna buy the ELF soundtrack. The girl in that movie (Zooey Deschanel) has a wonderful voice. I thought it was dubbed and she was lip syncing to Ella Fitzgerald or Judy Garland. Nope. Its really her.

I also wanna buy the new Lyle Lovett CD. I might go see him in concert on the 22nd. I haven't decided yet.

Hmmm, other good CDs I've listened to lately .... Susan Tedeschi. I've been on a blues kick. And the Moonlight Mile soundtrack. And I really like the new stuff by AudioSlave.
