1. Anything weird happen lately? -- Power outage at work yesterday. It wasn't the entire campus, but pretty close. We were "down" for about 1.5 hours.  But it hit right before lunchtime, so we all just left for an early and long lunch.

2. What's for dinner? -- Pepperoni bread with marinara sauce; beet, walnut, blue cheese and mixed greens salad, cantaloupe

3. What are you reading right now? (not at THIS moment) -- "Don't Breathe a Word: A Novel" by Jennifer McMahon

4. What are you  listening to right now? (NOW! THIS moment! lol) -- Jerry Weintraub, by Waldeck.

5. What's been controversial in your community or state lately? -- state testing.  There was a massive technological fluck-up and our state supt is blaming the school districts, in addition to the provider (who really is, imo, the one to blame).  It's just highlighting the absurdity of the focus and pressure on standardized testing.

1. Anything weird happen lately?

This morning, on my way to drop the kids off at camp, I noticed the man in the car in front of me...um, enjoying his own company, vigorously. I called the police as soon as I dropped the kids off. I didn't want them to notice. Weird enough?

2. What's for dinner?

Roasted chicken, veggies and orzo

3. What are you reading right now? (not at THIS moment)

I'm lucky if I can get through the newspaper without interruption.

4. What are you  listening to right now? (NOW! THIS moment! lol)

Laughter coming from my gf who works in the next office. She has the most wonderful laugh ever.

5. What's been controversial in your community or state lately?

I would say that this is an excellent example of how one can have too much "time to myself".   Cool

1. Anything weird happen lately? Yes, actually. Yesterday I was thinking of this American family we met when we first came to Greece and wondering how they were etc. Today I ran into the mother of that family at the health food store. She is here on a short visit. It was great to see her.

2. What's for dinner? We went out: grilled, fresh sardines, fava, greens, red wine and water melon.

3. What are you reading right now? (not at THIS moment) A book about Smyrna in the 19th century.

4. What are you  listening to right now? (NOW! THIS moment! lol) Well, not this second, but I have been listening to INXS live the last couple of days.

5. What's been controversial in your community or state lately? One of the local street dogs, Rubis (he is red), attacked one of the Troika people. The cops put Rubis in doggie jail and there was a public outrage (NOT a mockrage ;) ). Dh called the doggie jail and yelled at the poor woman there, who begged him to leave her alone, since he was the 300th or so person to call. She assured him that Rubis would be back at his post that evening, and he was. We checked :)

1. Weird lately?

My daughter had an allergic reaction out of nowhere today. Both ring fingers swelled up, along with one thumb. Luckily, Benedryl knocked it out.

2. Dinner?

I've got meatballs simmering in spaghetti sauce in the (avert your eyes Savcal) .... crockpot for the kids. I have some gorgeous tomatoes calling my name, so I'll be making myself a beast of a salad instead.

3. Reading?

Chapters 10 and 11 from Principles of Economics. We're covering perfect competition and marginal revenue this week. Coincidentally enough, I'm reading Trifles (just like the name of this thread) along with A Doll's House for lit class. I'm in between books at the moment for personal reading. I just finished Daddy's by Lindsay Hunter. I've got the new Stephen King downloaded to my kindle waiting for me.

4. Listening?

I am listening to the dryer tumble.

5. Local controversey?

The city council, which is comprised of several real estate agents, has imposed a fee for rental properties for "inspection." During the course of their "inspections", they've decided to condemn and tear down several homes in the city. They're trying to raise property value for their own personal gain under the justification of fighting blight.
