The only delusional thing I see on this thread is Jam's so-called passion for social justice. One can not simultaneously look down their nose at the poor and claim to be passionate about social justice. Those two things are utterly incompatible.

On Wednesdays we wear pink.

Thank you for stating this so eloquently.

Except if you didn't grow up poor and you aren't poor now and you've never been poor inbetween, how is that unbiased?  I think that is more like you've never walked in those people's shoes/lack of experience.  But that has nothing to do with ability to be unbiased.

Holy crap on toast!  Talk about delusional; your claim is the working definition of it.

Excuse me? Growing up poor means your views are "foggy?" That has got to be the most bigoted statement I have read in fifteen years in this board. Congratulations on reaching a new low.

<You can't prove otherwise>

Jams, Marla did prove otherwise. It's up to you to provide a counterpoint. Do you have any?

<Dh's side is full of addicts who will die denying problems exist, That's not the fault of a system so please don't confuse the two. >

Marla offered up proof of people desperate for help, not the deniers. Can you dispute her argument?

<Your posts come across as rhetoric>

I've got to agree here on one of definitions of rhetoric, but they definitely have the feeling of  sincerity, IMO. Marla's posts are thoughtful, effective and persuasive, unlike those of other posters (I include myself in that critique).

< I know there's more hope than that b/c I see it too. >

Hope and despair go hand-in-hand in dealing with addiction, but treatment is expensive. There's no way around that.

What does growing up poor have to do with anything? Please expand on this.

You have an opportunity to prove me wrong. Find the name of a single rehab center that will do everything that you're claiming and I'll call and verify. You don't even have to find a place in your immediate area; find one in any random place. Find one for me that will pay for rehab and give a grant to feed a family and go to school too.

Once I'm proven wrong, I'll bow down to your infinite awesomeness. I'll even change my screen name on iV to "Jams_Fan".

Could you also explain to me how my real life experience is rhetoric? And what exactly I can learn from someone who guesses what life is like for a drug addict from the comfort of their suburb?
