Underage Drinking

We have friends who find nothing wrong with allowing their 16 year olds to drink. They allow them to have beer pong parties with their friends (because they are doing it in their home) and allow them to try different types of wines (In their words "to make them a connoisseur of wine").
We find this unacceptable as if they are doing it at home, you know they are doing it elsewhere and these kids are able to drive now so I can not believe that none of them ever drive home drunk.
What does everyone think of this?

IME, the kids of helicopter parents are usually the least prepared to deal w/life. But hey, YMMV.
Great job bringing it full circle back to the op!

"Is there something in particular about European travel that turns kids into narcissists?"
The wine, du-uh! ;)
Mine is obviously doomed. Not only did she go to Europe long before she was 5, by the time she was 5 she was living in Europe fulltime. As for the wine, on her school trip in the 8th grade, the teachers took the kids drinking and dancing. Doomed, just doomed, I tell you. Oh, AND we pay for her college. Poor child.
I don't know anyone who boasts such a thing, do you? You do have an interesting circle of experiences.

That didn't answer the question or perhaps it did. Yes, I think that answered my question loud and clear.

Silly me Jam. But lets boast how we go to church every Sunday and are actually teachers of children of the word too.
